Vajolon Pass

Highlight • Mountain Pass

The Vajolon Pass is a worthwhile destination in the Rosengarten. Not easy because of lots of loose gravel! Surefootedness is required. You will be rewarded with great views!

Easy via ferrata, just don't take off your equipment too early on the descent 😉

Rotwand Via Ferrata

Highlight (Segment) • Climb

Great via ferrata for beginners with a bit of fitness. From the start at the Vajolon Pass to the Rotwand summit, it is more of an insured route without any significant technical difficulty. However, due to the previous approach to the pass from the Paolina mountain station, fitness is required again. From the summit the descent takes place over a scree grassy slope into a gap, where the key point (B/C) in the ascent awaits (approx. 20 m wall). Easily doable with some climbing experience. When you get to the top, don't take the set off yet, as the descent to the Rotwand hut still has ropes and is quite steep, including a very narrow chimney. Not to be underestimated as a round from the Paolina mountain station in terms of length and fitness. We were on the road comfortably for 6 hours without any long breaks.

Very nice view summit. If it is climbed from the north, mountaineers should be able to do it safely without via ferrata equipment.

It is best to do the via ferrata from north to south.

Christomannos' Eagle Statue

Highlight • Monument

The Christomannos eagle is a large artistic work in bronze, dedicated to Theodor Christomannos, the Austrian considered one of the pioneers of tourism in the Dolomites. It is a majestic eagle about three meters high positioned in a wonderful panoramic point: from here, in fact, at an altitude of 2,300 metres, you can see a beautiful piece of Val di Fassa and above all the Pale di San Martino and the Marmolada in all their beauty.

A spectacular via ferrata adventure in the Rosengarten group! Starting at the Paolina hut, the route takes you over the Masaré via ferrata, an airy ridge crossing with magnificent views of the Dolomites. The Rotwand via ferrata then leads with steep passages and exciting traverses to the summit of the Rotwand (Roda di Vael), where a breathtaking panorama awaits. The …
