Ordingen Castle

Highlight • Castle

Aside from the beauty of Kasteel van Ordingen, the hospitality of owner Richard Sleurs is so remarkable that you immediately feel at home. Like the lord of the castle, enjoy a wonderful holiday between the cities of Liège, Maastricht and Brussels. Gilding, antiques and Flemish Renaissance architecture form the framework for this exceptional hotel, which has been extensively restored and modernized. The 32 rooms and suites, which were designed by the famous interior designer Pieter Porters, also testify to this. Ideal for a relaxing family holiday or a romantic weekend. Enjoy a leisurely ride on the Vespa or a leisurely trip on an electric bike. Drive through the orchards and hills and discover the lush green nature and beautiful landscape of the Limburg province. In the evening, the Kasteel van Ordingen shines in new splendor and an unforgettable dinner in the gourmet restaurant Aurum awaits you. Known for his tasty, responsible and highly creative cuisine, the talented chef Gary Kirchens will delight everyone with his delicious and daring dishes.

Castle of Rullingen

Highlight • Castle

Rullingen Castle, located in Rullingen near Borgloon, Belgium, dates from the Middle Ages but was probably replaced by a water castle between 1623 and 1638. In the 18th and 19th centuries, adjustments were made in accordance with the housing standards of the time, and an English garden was created. After several owners, the castle became the property of the Province of Limburg in 1978. Until 2013 it functioned as a hotel-restaurant. In 2014, the castle was sold to a project developer.

St. Peter's Church Kortessem

Highlight • Religious Site

The Sint-Pieterskerk is the parish church of Kortessem and is located at Kerkplein No. 1.
Story
A church was first mentioned in the 11th century. A Romanesque nave was built between 1026 and 1038. The Romanesque west tower dates from the second half of the 12th century. An early Gothic choir and transept were added in 1270-1272.
In 1225 the church became a collegiate church.
The church has suffered a lot of violence. In 1468 it was sacked by the troops of Charles the Bold. In 1490 it was set on fire by the gangs of Jehannot-le-Bâtard. William of Orange's troops also caused destruction in 1568. Looting also occurred later, including by French troops.
The restoration took place in 1870-1875 under the direction of Herman Jaminé, during which the side aisles were enlarged in the neo-Romanesque style using old materials.
