View of Frauenburg Castle

Highlight • Viewpoint

A magnificent view of the Frauenburg Castle and the Nahe Valley from a rocky outcrop. There's a small bench directly on the rock, and a picnic bench in the shade a few meters away.

View of Wildenburg from Wilde Ley

Highlight • Viewpoint

𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝘆

On Roman Ruins. On the Wilden Ley, remains of walls have come to light in places on the edge of the slope, which may have been part of the fortification of the Nahekopf in Roman times. The remains of Celtic fortifications still await archeological research here. Walls were only uncovered in the area of the gate and adjacent to it. The settlement on the Nahekopf is probably a Celtic castellum. These seats of regional princes, described by Caesar, were mostly built in line of sight to comparable facilities in order to have a signal possibility in an emergency. From this point you can see the medieval tower of the Wildenburg. There was also a Celtic rampart, which was also inhabited in Roman times. Source: text information board

Nahekopf Plateau and Kaiserallee

Highlight • Historical Site

The Kaiserallee (Imperial Avenue) is striking, with portraits of several Roman emperors. This makes the adjacent, fenced-in, and partially overgrown areas with foundation walls barely noticeable. In accessible areas, these are mostly indicated as reconstructions (reinforcement mats filled with rubble stones), allowing one to get an impression of the size and layout.

Kaiserallee on the Nahekopf

Highlight (Segment) • Monument

𝗞𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗲

The Kaiserallee has been funded as part of the cultural and regional heritage concept, a program of structural development in Rhineland-Palatinate since 2007. The Kaiserallee that has now emerged presents the most famous emperors who ruled at the time the Nahekopf was settled. The theme of the "Roman Emperor" is presented in a station-like manner using steles. Between the individual imperial steles are the original sandstones that were found on the Nahekopf. The first excavations on the Nahekopf took place as early as 1995/96. During renewed field work in 2007/08, interesting insights were gained, some of which contradicted older knowledge. For example, it was found out that the Nahekopf only existed from the Late Late Period, i.e. from the middle of the 2nd century to around 50 BC. was settled. It became apparent that the Nahekopf must have been a hilltop settlement that was regularly used by the village community. Unfortunately, the allotted time frame only allowed excavations in certain sub-areas. It is important to mention that the Kaiserallee is a modern replica and not tied to historical models. Entrance to the Celtic castle complex. It was embedded in a mighty wall 6m thick and about 6m high. In the middle of the 3rd century, the Romans erected a fortification with a double shell wall, which was probably clad with thick sandstone, at least in the visible area. A reconstruction of the goal area is planned for the near future. Source: text information board

Well, that many trolls haven't found their way here.
The various paths (trolls, hunters, poachers) are lovingly designed and increase the hiker's attention.
