Climb from Hofheim to Langenhain

Highlight (Segment) • Climb

Nice, crisp climb through the forest.
Currently, as long as the Lorsbachtal is still closed, the diversion is not recommended due to the heavy traffic.

Ascent to Kleiner Feldberg

Highlight • Climb

A beautiful, winding, but not exactly rhythmic climb from the Red Cross to the Feldberg. Traffic is light during the week. The gradient averages about 6%, with short sections reaching 13%.

Whether up or down, this section is simply enjoyable.

Now it's almost done. After having climbed the steepest section. It goes up here again, short and crisp, to the summit plateau.
A detour here is always worthwhile. It is, after all, our highest peak in the region. Be attentive on the descent. There are a few cracks and small holes in the asphalt and especially on weekends there is a lot of traffic ☝️

Großer Feldberg Summit

Highlight • Summit

The Große Feldberg is not only the highest peak of the Taunus, but of the entire Rhenish Slate Mountains. The information about its exact height varies between 879 and 881 meters. The summit is extremely popular with day trippers from the Rhine-Main plain. Not only motorcyclists, racing cyclists and mountain bikers meet here on weekends, but also many motorists. It can get really crowded at peak times. Fortunately, the summit plateau is quite large. In addition to the television tower and transmission mast of the Hessian Broadcasting Corporation, there is a restaurant, two kiosks, a hiking home with an observation tower and a falconry. The most beautiful view is from the Brunhildis rock on the northern edge of the plateau. Various hiking trails lead over the summit. After all, the Taunus Club was founded up here and even Goethe liked to hike in the Taunus. There are plenty of trails for mountain bikers, including the official flow trail over the Fuchstanz to Hohemark. Racing cyclists particularly appreciate the twelve-kilometer ascent from Oberursel because of its length. The road from Schmitten is less busy, but also offers fewer vertical meters in one go. The Feldberg is by far not the most beautiful peak in the Taunus, but is definitely part of a tour in the Taunus because of its height and easy accessibility.

Final spurt!!! From here you're almost there. Shortly after the sign you can either turn right and plunge into the descent, or you can turn left and climb the last steep meters up to the Feldberg Plateau.

Ascent from Rotes Kreuz to the Feldberg

Highlight (Segment) • Climb

First curve behind the Red Cross on the way to Feldberg. When there are not many motorcyclists, it is wonderfully quiet and the fresh air is fantastic.

@So_Nia was of the opinion that today was an ideal day for the Großer Feldberg. As always, she was extremely motivated. I would have accepted a Coffee Ride too.

So we cheerfully went over the Pavé de Eppstein and continued via Ehlhalten to Schlossborn.

Today the Feldberg was announced again. I had planned to do it twice. The first ascent via Königstein, the second via Schmitten, both were unspectacular. Had a chat with another racing cyclist at the top and then we went back quite quickly.

Started at around 8:00 a.m. in much more pleasant temperatures than yesterday afternoon.
