Near the Sambuca pass, in a narrow passage between the mountain and a rock outcrop, on the top of this there is a large cross with an image of the Virgin from which you can enjoy a fantastic view of this part of the Apennines and towards the Romagna. Whether we proceed uphill or downhill we cannot help but stop for a moment.

Palazzo dei Capitani, Palazzuolo sul Senio

Highlight • Historical Site

Palazzuolo sul Senio is a medieval village in the upper Mugello, in the province of Florence, although it mainly overlooks the Romagna Apennine side and the population speaks Romagna.
A small town with unique and uncontaminated landscapes, nestled in the Apennine mountains which, with merit, has been defined as the ideal village in Italy. The fourteenth-century Palazzo dei Capitani, residence of the Captains of the People, which in 1506 gave accommodation to Pope Julius and Niccolò Machiavelli. Today the Palace is home to the Archaeological Museum of Alto Mugello and the Museum of Rural Civilization and Mountain People.
