The village of Tirol near Meran extends from the valley floor over the low mountain terrace of the Küchenlberg to the Spronser lake district at 2,500 m above sea level and has around 2,500 inhabitants. The town is characterized by its contrasting landscape with cypresses, palm trees and oleanders in the valley as well as conifers and alpine flowers in higher altitudes - it is not for nothing that Empress Sissi was already enchanted by Dorf Tirol. The climate here is Mediterranean with relatively little rainfall and many hours of sunshine, which not least favors the cultivation of wine.

Not only the proximity to the Texelgruppe Nature Park, but also the well-developed network of paths with around 70 km of marked tour options such as the Meraner Höhenweg or the Spronser Seenrunde make Dorf Tirol a popular holiday destination for hiking enthusiasts. We also recommend a visit to the Muthöfe and Tirol Castle with its state museum.
