St Andrews Castle

Highlight • Castle

The ruins of St Andrews Castle lie right on the coast, with magnificent sea views. In its near 500-year history, the castle has served as a palace, fortress and prison – and now a rather marvellous stop on a hike. The castle has an extraordinary history, so be sure to read about it and check out the information boards.

Martyrs' Monument, St Andrews

Highlight • Monument

Martyrs’ Monument in St Andrews, Scotland, enjoys a high-profile location adjacent to the Royal and Ancient Golf Club, overlooking the world-famous Old Course and the spectacular West Sands. It was built to commemorate a number of Protestant figures who were martyred in St Andrews between 1520 and 1560, and highlights the important role that the town played in the Reformation.

St Andrews Aquarium

Highlight • Structure

St Andrews Aquarium is the ideal family attraction, nestled on the historic town's north facing cliffs with stunning views of the famous west sands and St Andrews Bay.

Be transported into an underwater world of adventure and discovery. Come face to face with some of the most beautiful, fascinating and dangerous creatures of the watery worlds. From black tip reef sharks to seahorses, lobsters to lion-fish and poison dart frogs to piranhas.

The family of 4 Harbour seals and the mob of meerkats are always looking for visitors to say hi to. Just arrived at the aquarium is a waddle of 4 female Humboldt penguins, only the second group of Humboldts who are on display in Scotland! They can even be seen swimming through underwater windows so you are really up close!

Get up close and personal with the daily interactive demonstrations which include seal feeding at 12:00 and 15:00, meerkat feeding at 12.20 and 15:20 as well as a rockpool ramble at 11.30 and 14:30.
