Small footbridge over the River Wallington. Bridge leads to a rutted footpath so enjoy the bridge, but don't bother using it as a crossing point. Stay on the main track.

Forest of Bere

Highlight • Trail

The Forest of Bere is a historic forest covering an area of approximately 14,000 acres (5,700 hectares). It’s one of the few remaining ancient forests in the region.

It has a rich and diverse history that dates back several centuries. It was originally established as a royal hunting ground by the kings of England and was well-known for its abundance of deer.

Predominantly, the forest is composed of broadleaf trees such as oak, beech, and ash, along with pockets of coniferous plantations.

There's a fantastic network of cycling and walking tracks throughout which join up with the Meon Valley Trail, a former railway path.
