View of Castle Stalker

Highlight • Castle

Castle Stalker is an absolutely breathtaking place to visit in Scotland. Built on a tidal islet on Loch Laich around 1388, the castle is one of the best-preserved medieval tower houses in Scotland.

You may recognise the castle from the film Monty Python and the Holy Grail which was filmed here.

Although the castle is privately owned, tours are run from April to September. Check their website for more information: castlestalker.com/wp

One of the best looking castles around here. There is a lovely cafe up on the main road if you can find a way up there through the pub car park.

Beautiful route connecting the Lismore passenger ferry and the Caledonia Way cycle path.

Port Appin Jetty

Highlight • Rest Area

There are a few ferries from Oban to Lismore, but the Port Appin one is more frequent. It is a passenger ferry and happy to carefully take your bikes abord. Bikes are also available for hre on Lismore (check locally). Lismore offers fine road cycling and wildlife with great views over Loch Linnie to mainland and to the Ardnamurchan / Morvern peninsulas where we were headed next day.
