Hollow Pond is on the southern tip of Epping Forest in London. It was built in the 18th century as a reservoir for water supply. Today it's a lovely recreational area ideal for walking, picnics and activities. It's easily accessible by transport and a real escape into nature right in the heart of the city.

Fully segregated cycle paths are wonderful - and this one is one of the best.
They are also deceptively safe - almost the most likely place to have an accident with a motor vehicle. This is because riders are riding where motor vehicle drivers are not looking. Every time you cross a side road or driveway you must check behind (for anyone turning left across you), forward (for anyone turning right across you) and to the side (for vehicles emerging from the side road). In all of these situations, the rider has priority - BUT, if you touch your brakes, you will be deemed to be giving way...and, if they don't see you, they won't give way to you.
Sit up, be assertive - force them to stop and give way...but always have a Plan B in mind in case that does not work.
