Highlight • Trail

Hollow Pond is on the southern tip of Epping Forest in London. It was built in the 18th century as a reservoir for water supply. Today it's a lovely recreational area ideal for walking, picnics and activities. It's easily accessible by transport and a real escape into nature right in the heart of the city.

The lock takes it namesake from after the natural ford which used to exist in the area crossing the uncanalised River Lea.

Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park

Highlight • Cycleway

Built for the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics, the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park has since been re-developed as a tech hub, one of the largest urban parks in Western Europe with offices, apartments, and university buildings. You can visit the ArcelorMittal Orbit, a striking red tower, in the park. Don't forget to stop by the Lee Valley VeloPark, too!

There are lots of cycle paths to explore the area, but take care of pedestrians and other cyclists.

Lee Valley VeloPark Olympic Rings

Highlight • Monument

An ace place to visit for indoor cycling, circuit racing, mountain biking and more!

There's a few single track trails beside the BMX track outside and, of course, the iconic Olympic logo sign at the top of the hill for selfies! Don't forget Café 42 Degrees for tasty hot drinks and snacks.

As you cross the bridge over the River Lea, turn right on to the riverside single track. Nicer than the tarmac!

Hackney Marshes

Highlight (Segment) • Viewpoint

A nice path that's easy to cycle on, possibly even on a road bike and definitely on a gravel bike. It's quiet, with some people trekking around but definitely enough space for a nice bike ride through the wild, in London!
