Baslow Edge Climb

Highlight • Climb

Through the back streets of Baslow, this way lets you take a direct route to the top of a Baslow Edge.

Here, you can turn left at the top to go along Curbar and Froggatt or right to go past the Wellington Monument.

View from Baslow Edge

Highlight • Natural Monument

From the mini roundabout near Baslow Church turn right (if heading to Stoney Middleton and Manchester) keep climbing the road all the way going straight onm. The road seems to get steeper and then turns more gravely at a chicane. Keep heading ever upwards until you reach a gate. Go through this turn right and you are at the Eagle Stone/Wellington monument junction. Give yourself a pat on the back.

This dramatic gritstone edge offers wonderful views over the Peaks, towards the Chatsworth Estate and beyond. It is lovely moorland single track riding up here; ruts, stones, grit and heather. Perfect.

Great descent, lots of rocky features down a very wide bridleway. Lot's of faster smoother lines to take on the sides if you didn't fancy the sneaky step downs.

Highlight • Viewpoint

Spectacular viewpoint. A must go to if you're cruising along the edge. Highly recommend a stop and a see! We partnered ours with a some lovely baked goods, delicious.

Big Moor

Highlight • Natural

Big Moor is a big moor....ok it's a great way of getting from Totley Moor towards Baslow. Beware as it can be incredibly boggy so keep to the proper path. If coming off Totley moor you come off the main road to a narrow gate then follow the signposted route parallel to the wall all the way to another gate (this feels counter intuitive). then you will see a wider defined path on your left. follow this down to a tarmac drive, turn right for about 300m towards a house. Just before the house take the path on your left down to a gate then keep on this faat open track before it spits you out on the main road again. Here go straight over for a little more single-track action!
