War Horse Sculptures at Arborfield Garrison

Highlight • Historical Site

These wonderful sculptures were made by portrait artist and sculpture Amy Goodman in 2017. She sculpted three life-size horses to commemorate the lives of the horses that served in the First World War.

The sculptures are located at the Arborfield Garrison which was set up as a horse hospital and veterinary centre prior to the war. Thousands of horses visited the centre during the war.

Jackson's California Lake Café

Highlight • Settlement

California country park Cafe is rider friendly and has a great menu. Secure bike area and lots of seating inside and outside under cover if required. Clean toilets and lots of car parking if starting ride or finishing. Lots for the family to do. There are many links to other rides around Berkshire or Hampshire. Near reading and Wokingham so main links to London Waterloo or Reading to anywhere in the country. There is also camping local so if you are touring somewhere to stay. Local shops are cooperative and takeaway are only along the road. There are many paths around the lake to explore and bridle ways to cycle. Family and road cycling area so lots of people around. Dogs are welcome at California and we provide dog bins for you to use. Please respect others by keeping your dog under control and don't allow them to foul in public areas. We don't allow dogs in the play park and near the paddling pool.
