Church of Sant Feliu de Rocabruna

Highlight • Religious Site

The apse of Saint Felix, restored in 1929, is one of the most elegant in the Ripollès-Alta Garrotxa area.
It may have been mentioned in the 10th century under the name of Saint Julian of Pruna, but the dedication and current name of Saint Felix of Rocabruna was introduced in the 11th century. The church was linked to the seat of Girona and the command of the lords of Rocabruna. The pastoral visits from the 14th to the 19th centuries tell of the richness of the altars, liturgical objects and altarpieces, which, however, were destroyed during the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939). The distinctive features of this medieval building (12th century) are the unique nave, the ogival roof, the elegance of the masonry of the walls and the semicircular apse decorated with a zigzag frieze.
