Klong Toey Pier Ferry to Bang Krachao

Highlight • Rest Area

This original natural paradise can be easily reached from downtown Bangkok in just a short time.

Take the subway to Klong Toey Station and get to Klong Toey Pier. The track is also good to do on foot.

From the pier you take a longtail boat and after about 5 minutes it is like coming to another world.

Bang Krachao can also be reached quickly from BTS Skytrain Station Bang Na. From the exit 2, the route continues for about 500 meters until the crossroads, where behind red food stalls and stalls red Songtaews, the small Thai buses, waiting.

With these you drive to the temple, where the ferries to Bang Krachao drop. Whether with a traditional long tail boat, or a ferry on the mopeds and drivers are transported as well as dog, cat, mouse and rooster, the short crossing is guaranteed to be an experience and falls under the category "favorable activity", because this ride is only one few baht to book.

The Sri Nakhon Khuean Khan Park and Botanical Garden, often referred to as the “Green Lung of Bangkok”, is an idyllic natural paradise in the Phra Pradaeng district, just a stone's throw from the bustling city center. This 148 rai (about 237 hectares) area was opened in 2003 and offers visitors a welcome break from the urban hustle and bustle.

The park boasts a diverse range of flora and fauna, which particularly attracts nature lovers and bird watchers. A 2.2-kilometer-long cycle path winds through the grounds and allows you to experience the lush vegetation and numerous waterways up close. A highlight is the seven-meter-high bird watching tower, from which you have an impressive view over the canopy and can observe various species of birds.

The park is a true paradise for cyclists. Bicycles can be rented directly at the park entrance or at nearby ferry terminals, with prices ranging between 20 and 30 baht per day. The well-developed paths lead through shady areas, past lakes and bridges that invite you to linger.

Elevated Cycle Path in Bang Krachao

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

Bang Krachao, often referred to as the "Green Lung of Bangkok," is an artificial island formed by a loop of the Chao Phraya River and a canal to the west. It is located south of the Thai capital in the Phra Pradaeng district of Samut Prakan province and covers approximately 16 square kilometers.

This area is known for its lush vegetation, consisting of mangrove forests, small agricultural plots, and elevated walkways crossing the canals. Despite its proximity to Bangkok's bustling city center, Bang Krachao has retained its rural charm and offers a welcome escape from the urban hustle and bustle.

One of the main attractions for visitors is the Sri Nakhon Khuean Khan Park and Botanical Garden. This public park covers 148 rai (approximately 23.7 hectares) and features a 2.2-kilometer bicycle path. It is particularly popular with cyclists and birdwatchers.

Bang Krachao offers numerous options for cyclists. There are several bike rentals that allow visitors to explore the island independently. The elevated paths and quiet roads make cycling enjoyable and safe.

In addition to cycling, visitors can visit the Bang Nam Phueng Floating Market, which takes place on weekends and offers local produce and culinary specialties. Traditional temples such as Wat Bang Nam Phueng Nok and Wat Songtham Worawihan offer cultural insights and are worth a visit.

Getting to Bang Krachao is straightforward. From Bangkok, you can take a ferry from Wat Khlong Toei Nok Pier to reach the island. Bikes are often available for rent at the pier, so you can start exploring right away.
