Otos Municipal Washhouse

Highlight • Historical Site

The Otos Municipal Laundry is a historic and picturesque site. Built in 1960, it features a gabled roof. Inside the laundry is a painting by artist Toni Espinar, reproducing a 1954 photo of three women washing clothes.

Nevera de Tormo

Highlight • Structure

Between 1550 and 1850 there was a short ice age during which it snowed most of the time. This fact and the appreciation of snow for therapeutic purposes and to preserve food led to the creation of urban snow depots and snow pits such as the snow depot of Tormo, Xamarra or Pasqualet.

The snow depot has a diameter of 11.40 m and a depth of 12 m. The estimated capacity is 1,250 m3. This snow depot is connected to a 12 m long tunnel that has small side galleries that may have served as shelter for the snow workers who found shelter in it. The access tunnel was used for mushroom cultivation after it was abandoned a few decades ago.
