Klausen Caves

It is a public cave in the Altmühl valley. The ca.330 meter long cave in the Jura limestone is between 25 and 55 meters above the valley floor. The cave consists of several rock niches lying close together at four different altitudes. As archaeological sites, they are divided (from bottom to top) into the Lower Klause, the Klausenniche as well as the Middle and Upper Klause.

Today we wanted to make the Altmühltal unsafe. We decided to do a little tour around Essing.

We parked at the Tatzlwurm Bridge. This takes you to the other side of the Rhein-Main-Danube Canal. Up into the forest to the Klausen caves. There we go from cave to cave.

Today we went for a fun walk with our indestructible Duracell foster dachshund puppy 🙈😂 around Essing. The Klausenhölen are now closed in winter out of consideration for the bats. We actually wanted to stop off at the nice café in Essing, but once again we forgot our wallet at home 🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️😂
