The town of Jable stands in the immediate vicinity of the village of Loka pri Mengšu on the western edge of Mengeško polje and is first mentioned in sources for the first time in 1268. On the edge of the rocky slopes, from which the brook originates, it has an extremely strategic position with control over the Menges polje and its hinterland is protected by large forests stretching towards Rasica. Under the rocky cliff, on which the castle stands, there is also a karst cave, through which flowing stream flows, which is also filled with a small castle pond.
