Grünkopf Summit

Highlight • Summit

The path to the Grünkopf is not difficult - apart from a few places, everything is fine. You always meet other hikers at the summit, but it's not too busy. So it's worth going here.

From the terrace, there are beautiful views of the Arnspitze, the Leutaschboden, several peaks of the Wetterstein range, and the Karwendel ridge above Mittenwald, with the western Karwendelspitze. The German-Austrian border runs across the terrace.

Great view through the gorge. A head for heights definitely recommended. But it's worth it!

View of Leutasch Gorge

Highlight • Gorge

You have a great view of the gorge from this bridge. You shouldn't be afraid of heights. The bridge is very easy to reach via the footbridge and the paths are well made. I would still recommend wearing good shoes.

A nice tour to acclimatize, and as a reward we received a 🍺 on the Ederkanzel.

The route is definitely too difficult for the average Joe. A head for heights and not being afraid of heights would be an advantage. It took us about 7 hours. The view and the nature are fantastic.

A lovely Sunday hike from Mittenwald train station, along historic paths along the Bavarian-Tyrolean border to the Grünkopf and on into the Leutasch Valley. An afternoon stop at the Klammgeist inn in the old customs house is highly recommended. The food and the restaurant are fantastic. Afterwards, we continued through the Geisterklamm gorge back to Mittenwald train station. The trail …
