Heiligenthal Pig Meadow

Highlight • Structure

At Heiligenthal on Südergellerser Weg there is a pig meadow. It is fenced and provided with individual shelters. These are divided into lots and if you're lucky like me, you can see at certain times even small piglets running around. The pigs are as good as the whole year outside.

Hasenburger Bachtal Nature Reserve

Highlight • Natural Monument

The approximately 530 -acre nature reserve "Hasenburger Bachtal" is located in the southwest of the city Lüneburg in the district of Lüneburg.

It includes the Hasenburger Bach, the Südergellerser Bach and the Osterbach with their tributaries and lowlands to the mouth in the Ilmenau near the Red Lock and adjacent edge of the valley. The brook lowlands are characterized by a mosaic of differently used, often wet to wet meadows, pastures and fallow stadiums as well as by typical ruptured and alluvial forests. Especially near Heiligenthal, Böhmsholz and in the Hasenburger Switzerland natural beech and oak forests occur.

As part of the Fauna-Flora-Habitat (FFH) area "Ilmenau mit Nebenbächen", the area has a special significance for nature conservation. Protective purpose is in particular the conservation and development of semi-natural, continuous rivers, natural deciduous forests, various habitats typical of low-lying and species-rich grasslands with their characteristic, z.T. endangered plant and animal species (such as otters and bullheads) and communities.

In the east, the NSG LÜ 282 adjoins "Lüneburg Ilmenauniederung with zoo".

The historical boundary stone, which is designated as a monument, is in the Hasenburger Bachtal nature reserve (NSG LÜ 281). The upper part shows the Lüneburg city mark on both sides of the stone as well as three years on the view side from the southwest and two years on the view side from the northwest, which refer to border inspections carried out in these years. At its foot, on the right, is the so-called cross stone, which is also a historical boundary stone.

Oerzen Village Center

Highlight • Settlement

It is located southwest of Lüneburg and near the B209. Who is on this road, does not even notice. Hikers will rarely go through it.

What is special about Oerzen? Not mentioned on Wikipedia and has no village church.

It still has an intact village center and a village pub that still works. This is increasingly rare. A homepage also has this inn:
gasthaus-kruse-oerzen.de

Few will wander there, rather by bike pass through it. You will find that it is fun to drive along.

Oh damn me, a bench as a highlight. It is located on a farm road south Südergellersen. It is nothing special than that you can look over the meadow to the edge of the forest. Can sit in the sun, if it shines. Incidentally, you can read a small tables and learn about local peculiarities.

Alledrings flows the Südergellerser Bach into the Hasenburger Mühlenbach before he drives the mill. The ravages of time gnaw at the blackboard, so this little incorrectness is forgiven.
