Sandforter Forest

Highlight • Forest

Even in winter it is easy to walk and extremely quiet. The forest on the left and right was partly under water, the trees formed small islands (see my photos)
I thought it was really beautiful

March 5, 2025,Runde vom Ternscher See über Selm und zurück ☀️🥾🌳
I can highly recommend this lovely walk - especially on weekdays ☺️ Thanks to Christine😘

I'd had this tour saved for a while. It started at Ternscher See, a former gravel pit.

The route follows many small streams, passes through lovely residential areas, and crosses the railway tracks several times. The detour through the Selm floodplain park is definitely worth taking. There are some cool features, and the hill offers a great view.

A pleasant hike with me alone 😌

Parked at Ternscher Lake 🏖️, where there is too much going on in summer and too little in winter. I prefer the latter and enjoy the occasional lake views in complete solitude. The forest paths are also quaint and secluded, just the way I like them. A squirrel 🐿️ nibbles on whatever and …

We parked in Selm and immediately headed to the Sandfort Forest, which we walked through on an old railway line. The forest to the left and right is partly under water, still bearing the frost of the last few days. It is interesting how the road tunnel and, a little later, the Stever with an underpass lead under the DEK.

Today's hike had a bit of everything to offer. The start was at Selmer Str. 111 in 59399 Olfen. From the parking lot we went to the Sandforter Forst in the direction of Selm. After crossing it, we walked about 2 km along a main road. Main road to the right and wall area to the left, you could stand …

A spontaneous tour to see the beautiful parts of Selm, Lake Ternscher with lots of kids enjoying aqua climbing, and the beautiful Aue Park. Otherwise, it was a lot of walking on asphalt and through the forest on gravel paths.
But not every tour can get a 5⭐, and we did get some exercise.
😊
