St. Sebald's Catholic Church (Schwabach)

After the Reformation, the Catholic Christians belonged to the parish of St. Jakobus in Abenberg. In 1840 Schwabach became an independent parish.

The church was built from 1848 to 1850 according to plans by Alphons Kohler. Under the direction of Otto Schulz, the church was expanded between 1923 and 1926. An interior renovation with a redesign of the chancel took place in 2015/2016.

The area of today's Mönchshof was the nucleus of Schwabach in the 8th century. A Franconian royal court likely stood here. In 1195, the property passed to the Ebrach Monastery in the Steigerwald and has been known as the Mönchshof ever since. The Mönchshof is the largest historic farm complex in Schwabach.
The main building was rebuilt in 1539 and 1793, and during the first reconstruction, the Ebrach coat of arms was affixed to the exterior façade.

Schwabach Town Hall

The history of the town hall

The present town hall was built in 1528/29 and changed over and over again through renovations and extensions over the centuries. For example, the north wing was embellished in 1901-1904 by the placement of a decorative truss and the cultivation of a wood carving choir.

In the year 2001 a complete renovation of the then over 470 years old building took place. To top it off, the two turrets of the town hall received their golden roofs.

Citizens and friends of the city financed the golden roofs with the purchase of 2,000 leaf-gilded tiles. That this is Schwabacher gold leaf, goes without saying.
