Nice new way to go. You pass the old train station in Vaihingen.

Due to increasing bombing of German armaments facilities, the construction of fighter aircraft was to be relocated to bomb-proof production facilities. These included the old motorway tunnel near Lemberg, the Kochendorf salt mine near Heilbronn, and the abandoned Baresel quarry in Vaihingen an der Enz. Parts for Messerschmitt AG's jet aircraft were to be manufactured here. This quarry had already been used for tests with the V1 cruise missile in 1942. Measuring 240 by 100 meters – enclosed on all sides – and with a railway siding, this location was particularly suitable. The planned factory was to have six floors and be covered with a reinforced concrete ceiling. The Todt Organization, a special unit for the construction of military structures, was commissioned to build this bunker, which was codenamed 'Stoffel'. For this purpose, approximately 1,500 foreign and forced laborers came to Vaihingen, and in August, approximately 2,200 Jewish concentration camp prisoners from occupied Poland arrived. Due to the approaching front and air raids, construction was halted at the end of October 1944. Concentration camp prisoners able to work were transferred to other armament projects. Vaihingen concentration camp became a hospital or death camp for prisoners unable to work from other labor camps. The construction site was filled in the 1950s.

Here you will find an information board with an overview map of the former camp and the associated buildings and construction sites for an aircraft factory in a bunker. For the history of the concentration camp, I recommend de.wikipedia.org/wiki/KZ-Außenlager_Vaihingen
From the information board you have a view of the memorial down in the valley.

On the footpath and bike path on the abandoned railway line of a former branch line of the railway. The remnants of the track here are a reminder of this. The branch line was last called Vaihinger Stadtbahn and ran to Enzweihingen. You pass the old city train station Vaihingen. In Enzweihingen you can still see the old lock shed and the reception building. de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaihinger_Stadtbahn

Wonderful freshly paved path. The new cycle path that connects the DB train station in Vaihingen / Enz with Kehlstrasse in Vaihingen / Enz.
The path is very straight! (due to the earlier rail connection)
The new cycle path stretches over a length of 3.1 kilometers. Trains used to run there on the former WEG route. - Whether by bike, on foot, on a scooter or on inline skates. Time and again, parts of the old rail are still built into the path.
The path also touches the area of the Vaihingen / Enz concentration camp memorial.
This is also a place steeped in history: The Vaihingen / Enz concentration camp was set up in the summer of 1944 as a satellite camp of the Natzweiler concentration camp in Alsace. From August the 2187 Jewish prisoners from Radom / Poland who were housed in the camp were used alongside around 800 forced laborers in the construction of an underground factory for fighter planes.
In November it was converted into a central sick camp, which took in prisoners from a further 18 subcamps - it became a death camp for around 1,600 prisoners from 20 nations.
The French army liberated the camp on April 7, 1945.
Documents and traces have been preserved from both sections of the camp and are presented in the information building. A hall was built over the foundations of the former shower and delousing barracks, in which the history of the camp is conveyed through a media installation.
The concentration camp cemetery is about two hundred meters away.
The rails of the branch line testify to the history:
Concentration camp prisoners who had been carted to die in the remote camp were once unloaded there.
There is also a display board.
