Karlshagen station

Highlight • Rest Area

Karlshagen Siedlung station was the largest station on the Peenemünder Werkbahn for passenger transport. He had three platforms, some of which were roofed over. These platforms could be reached through a pedestrian tunnel from the settlement or from the Karlshagen camp (VKN camp).
The wooden station building was on the edge of the housing estate. In this building you could get into the tunnel from three sides and from there onto the platforms, while the road to Peenemünde was crossed under.
A second tunnel entrance was on the other side of the station on the old Peenemünder Strasse.
Tickets were checked at special counters at the tunnel entrance. The journeys were free of charge for the employees of the Peenemünder research institutes and their family members.
The station, completed in 1942, also served as a transfer station. The long-distance passenger trains of the Reichsbahn ended here and you could change to the S-Bahn. When the shift changed, the S-Bahn trains ran at Karlshagen Siedlung station at intervals of 5-10 minutes. The station tunnel was also used as a public air raid shelter.

Seaside Benches in Karlshagen

Highlight • Viewpoint

Not just here - there are benches at over 100 locations in Karlshagen. From spring 2020, lucky sponsors were searched for and apparently found. Each patient bench now has a motto about the sea and is labeled with the names of the donors. Nice action!

Karlshagen Promenade

Highlight • Trail

The band shell itself offers beautiful acoustics and the area in front of the band shell is designed in the form of a roundabout and is equipped with seating.
The band shell is located on the edge of the promenade and right next to the beach forecourt.
Many events for young and old in the summer months.
