The Prenzlauer Marienkirche is one of the outstanding buildings of northeast German brick Gothic. With its massive appearance and the richly decorated, restored Chorgiebel triangle, the three-aisled hall church determines the cityscape. It was built in several stages between the years 1235 and 1340 as the main parish church. The fieldstone lower tower area is the oldest part of the church, which was built shortly after the founding of the city in 1235 and 1250. With the end of the war, the church burned down to the perimeter walls. Reconstruction began in several stages in 1970 ... Inside the church there is a beautiful winged altar with valuable Gothic wooden figures that survived the great fire, walled in in a tower niche.
