Historic Schäferkamp Railway Bridge

Highlight • Bridge

Historical bridge in the course of the former railway line between Schwarzenbek and Trittau/Bad Oldesloe. Over the decades, many people have carved their initials, names and dates into the stones. Really great that it has lasted all these years. Unfortunately, some were sprayed over - really a pity - you can't really protect that, you can only appeal to reason. The oldest inscription is from 1920, I think I have deciphered it. This bridge should be listed as a historical monument.

Old Steinau Bridge

Highlight • Bridge

The path between Lanken and Möhnsen leads over this beautiful historic bridge over the Steinau. The Steinau leads clean water and is not deep, so that both humans and animals can cool their feet / paws well.

Gut Lanken

Highlight • Historical Site

Gut Lanken is located in the middle of the 256 hectare nature reserve. The historic manor house and the impressive granary were built in 1732 and are listed buildings. Unfortunately, not much else is known about the history of Gut Lanken.

The nature reserve, which consists of two areas, is located northeast of Schwarzenbek. It covers part of the former “Lanken” training area, which is around 600 hectares in size and was used until the end of 1994. It is characterized by different habitats. Some areas within the nature reserve are used for agriculture. The Steinau lowlands in the north of the nature reserve are still partly close to nature. Rare plants can be found in the different habitats in the nature reserve.
The NSG is also the habitat of various bird and amphibian species.
Unfortunately, in 2012 a large part of the area was converted into a huge solar park. This area is therefore no longer accessible to the public.
Fortunately, a lot of beautiful nature has been preserved all around, which is ideal for cycling or hiking.

Lanken Valuable Timber Yard

Highlight • Structure

A lot of valuable wood is stored here and waiting to be transported away. Among other things, veneers are peeled from the tree trunks for the surfaces of high-quality furniture. Whether they are suitable for this can be examined in detail here on site before purchasing.
Currently (January 28, 2024) the place is well filled with fresh wood again.
If you need something right now... there's still a lot to choose from.😉

Here is an interesting link to the valuable wood yard:

Connecting Path Grove–Lanken

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

This route is the only way to get directly to the NSG Lanken from Grove. The entrance is hidden from Lanken and you can drive past it quickly if you don't know it.

Biogas Plant Grove

Highlight • Structure

The Grove biogas plant on Totenweg is probably the only plant spelled with an ss. Perhaps expensive specialty gas(es) is produced here. 😉
Current update 10.3.22:
Until now, I've been rather skeptical about the many biogas plants in this area, but now, with the current gas shortage and high prices, I've truly come to appreciate them. It's great that we have them and can use them. 😉
Current update 10.9.23
Time is so short-lived these days, and everything is already irrelevant...
Gas is now "discredited" due to the crisis, and who knows how long these plants will last....
