The single-nave church is built of quarry stone and dates from the 13th century. To the west of the nave is a steeple standing across the nave. It is covered with a gable roof and has acoustic arcades designed as pointed arches. Modifications were carried out in 1505 and in the 19th century. A small extension is added to the south side of the nave.

The interior of the church is covered by a 16th-century wooden ceiling. It is decorated with ornamental stencil painting. In addition, there is a two-sided gallery. The carved Gothic altar was made around 1430. A Madonna is depicted in its raised central part. She is flanked on each side by two female saints arranged one above the other. The only figure preserved in the wings of the altar is that of Jacobus Major.

In 1937 a restoration took place. The carved altar in the wings was carefully supplemented with texts. During the restoration there were also large-scale additions to the ceiling paintings.

St George and Elizabeth
The single-nave church was built from rubble stones in the 13th century. On the north side there is a chapel with a square ground plan, also built in the 13th century, which is used as a baptistery. To the west of the nave is a church tower standing across the nave, the origin of which dates back to the first half of the 13th century. It has three-part acoustic arcades and is covered by a gabled roof. In the years 1633 and 1655 the nave was destroyed by fire and later renewed. In 1767 a porch was built on the south side of the nave. In the night from August 7th to 8th, 1928[1] the nave was again destroyed in another fire and rebuilt in the years 1929/30.
The interior of the ship is spanned by a wooden barrel. The church tower was originally opened towards the nave by a late Romanesque double arcade. The current interior design dates from the reconstruction from 1929 and is a rare example of church furnishings in the 1930s. In particular, the north and west gallery, pulpit altar and organ date from this period. The pulpit altar is on the east wall. On the pulpit is the inscription The word of our God endures forever.
To the left of the altar is a historic chair that survived the catastrophic fire. It is known as the Luther chair because the reformer Martin Luther is said to have sat on it during a visit to Oppin.
