Bike Ranch Trail

Highlight • MTB Park

Around Schonach, the bike shop "Bike-Ranch", in cooperation with trailers and bike manufacturers, has built some fine trails that you can combine to create a beautiful enduro round. North of Schonach is the "Kenda Trail". At the top of the Wilhemshöhe begins the "Kona Trail" and here, not far from the Langenwald ski jump, is the "Bike-Ranch Trail". From the end of this flowtrack you can just drive on to Schonach.

More information about the "Schonacher Trail Ride District" can be found here: bike-ranch.com/trail.html.

Triberger Gallows

Highlight • Historical Site

"It must have been almost a pleasure to die from the gallows in Triberg."
(Stuttgarter Zeitung, July 11, 1962)

Very early on, the Triberg family owned a gallows at a particularly scenic location. Here, where the borders of different places come together, executions were carried out until 1776.

As early as 1349, a gallows was established for the Triberg rulers. At its current location, at 1,020 meters on the European watershed North Sea / Black Sea, a map of the Benedictine monastery of St. Georgen at the end of the 16th century shows a gallows with two hanged men. The Villingen game card even shows two wooden gallows on the "Dreyberghöhe".

In 1721 the stone neck court was built there on Nussbacher district. The exposed place of execution on the "crest of Alemanniens" was a visible sign for all passers-by of the beginning of sovereignty of the Upper Austrian bailiff Triberg. Until the death penalty under Emperor Joseph II (1786) was abolished, two executions on the gallows were known "Carnifex Trimontanus", the executioner from Triberg, buried in the gallows.

You will find the historic gallows on the K5728 Schönwald-Villingen district road between the Stöcklewald car park and the junction to St. Georgen and Furtwangen-Rohrbach.
