Schwetzingen Asparagus Lady

Highlight • Monument

Nice monument to asparagus - if not here in Schwetzingen! Especially funny, when in the asparagus season directly next to real asparagus stands.

The New Orangery is a reminder of the famous population of exotic plants and trees in Schwetzingen. In 1795, over 1,000 orange and lemon trees were planted here. The lapidarium is located in the western part of the orangery.

Schwetzingen Castle was first mentioned as a fortress in 1350. It was a medieval moated castle. In 1427 it came into the possession of Elector Ludwig III. It was subsequently rebuilt several times, served as a hunting lodge and was destroyed towards the end of the Thirty Years' War. Elector Karl Ludwig had the Schwetzingen Palace rebuilt for his lover …

Today was an occasional rainy day! Nevertheless, I wanted Volker to see the Schwetzingen Palace Park from the inside. I have been there myself several times for festivals, light festivals or to see the cherry blossoms, but today I saw a lot of new things again.

Schwetzingen - when we were at home here, we walked in the park almost every day. Here we relaxed, recharged our batteries, visited our favorite tree 🌳, made so many memories...😊
Today nature in the park was still in hibernation, but we were able to admire the cherry blossoms🌸🌸🌸. So beautiful 😍
Even the unlikely pair of geese are still …

Since we wanted to enjoy another 🐟 on the last day of the Ketscher Backfischfest, we decided to go to the Schwetzingen Palace Gardens because of the proximity - after all, you have to earn the culinary delights 🚶🥾😅...

The entrance fee is currently €8 per person...

Today we were inspired by Heidi Hurtig's tour and strolled through the Schwetzingen palace garden. 🏰⛲️

It was incredibly busy, as of course everyone wanted to see the beautiful blooming splendor of the cherry blossoms. 🌸 ☀️
And it was absolutely worth it, because this sight is something very special! 🚶🏻‍♀️🚶🏻‍♂️🎒🍦

The visions of Elector Carl Theodor of the Palatinate led to the creation of an enchantingly beautiful palace garden in Schwetzingen in the 18th century. Today, the perfect combination of geometric and landscape style is one of the masterpieces of European garden art.

Nice Sunday outing - the museum pass (museumspass.com/de) offers inspiration and then ensures free entry 😎
So we took advantage of the sunshine and made a detour to the Baden region.

Schwetzingen is known for its annual castle festival - so the castle and park must be very special.

Indeed: beautiful, extensive park with lots of sculptures and water features.

Once again in Schwetzingen 😊: because of an appointment, a few purchases at my favorite Italian supermarket, Asian shop and at Leisinger 😋 and there was also time for a walk through the beautiful castle park 🥰
