Dreisam Valley

Highlight (Segment) • River

In the Dreisamtal there are a number of small roads and paths on which you can get in the direction of St. Peter, St. Märgen, Schauinsland/Notschrei or the Zastlertal. It's also great for rolling up after starting in Freiburg.

Small tour on November 16, 2024. A sunny, fog-free day. I was lucky, as the road up to Spirzen is often frequented by loudly roaring motorbikes and cars. I was often alone that day. I met a few cyclists going downhill, but I was the only one going in the opposite direction.

Two days ago it was the undulating landscape of the Mecklenburg Lake District with lakes, waterways, avenues, rapeseed fields and wide horizons, today it's the local Black Forest again. Mountains! Even with snow on them! Even if only in isolated areas. Soon it will be really hot up here again 🌞😎

I can never imagine that there will be bright blue sky and sun up there, as long as I'm sitting in the cold gray (en) below. But how good that there is the St. Märgen webcam. What can I say: just fantastic 😇 Start up! Now!! :-)

It was actually a bit cooler at the top than in the tropically hot Freiburg. And it smelled so good, like freshly mown grass, warm wooden bark, subtly like cow dung and water evaporating on hot asphalt... Summer 🤗

Use the incredible warmth again and let your mind wander ☀️
