Schloss Beuggen

Highlight (Segment) • Castle

Beuggen Castle, which has been privately owned for a few years, can also be cycled through on a racing bike. when events are not taking place.

And this very well-preserved and well-maintained ensemble is always worth an admiring look when you're not trying to optimize the cut.

A garden restaurant often invites you to take a break and linger, which allows you to get to know and admire things more intensively.

Möhlin-Riburg to Wallbach with plenty of nature

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

As an alternative to the busy main road or the somewhat unsightly cycle path along the motorway, we recommend the route through the Riburg industrial park, which soon leads through a nature reserve to the Möhlinerhöhe (mountain between Möhlin and Wallbach). Once at the top, the path leads through fields past a farm. The path is well paved, has very little traffic and is therefore definitely worth the few meters more.

Rheinfelden Old Town

Highlight • Historical Site

Obertorturm Rheinfelden
The Obertorturm is considered the most important tower of the medieval city fortifications of Rheinfelden. Strangely, its tower clock does not strike on the hour
Defensive tower of the city fortifications.
In Rheinfelden there are not only sights, but also hearing attractions. One of these is the Obertor. The tower clock bell strikes the upcoming full hour - for example 12 noon - even though it is only 11:53 a.m. and the hands show this correctly. But this is not the clockmaker's fault. The bell strikes too early on purpose.
It is said that this was once introduced as a service for the farmers who worked in the fields outside the city walls. In the evening the city gates were locked, and anyone who had not reached the city by the time the gates closed had to spend the night outside.

The whole area is very worth seeing and also offers an otherwise traffic-free way to cross the Rhine between Germany and Switzerland. So you can save the rather tedious crossing of Basel. On the Swiss side of Kaiseraugst offer several beautiful routes, on German side you can avoid in Wyhlen with the highway in the direction of Inzlingen the busy Federal Road 34.

The small streets over the Dinkelberg were closed due to a hunt. So we changed our plan and went to Säckingen. Was nice too. And we were lucky with the weather too: when we got home it started to rain!
