Upper Floßgraben Trail

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

The steep cracks at the top of the Upper Raft Trench are more well-known than this equally beautiful, but shallow section. It leads from the Fronweg in Muldenberg to the Rißbrücke - the beginning of the cracks.

Little Affenstein

Highlight • Natural Monument

Not far from the ski stadium, a short walk from the Muldenderger Straße car park, is the Kleine Affenstein. Like all other stones around Grünbach, it is made of greywacke quartzite. On a hike to the Rehhübel, the path leads past it.

In the immediate vicinity was also the large monkey stone, but it fell victim to road construction, since natural stone was often used as a building material.

The name Affenstein has nothing to do with the animal. Originally the name was Uhustein because the eagle owl nested there. Immigrants from Upper Franconia called the owl Auff, which is how the name Auffenstein came about. But the Vogtländer didn't speak Au (Woman means Fraa in Vogtland), so Auffenstein became Affenstein. The Affenstein is a legendary stone, where the Winselmutter appears at the full moon!!!!
