Navacerrada Village Reservoir

Highlight • Lake

Beautiful landscape that the Embalse del Pueblo de Navacerrada offers us. Together with the Pinares de la Barranca they make an amazing postcard, especially in the autumn months where some trees take on a different color and the view is very picturesque.

Mingo Fountain

Highlight • Rest Area

The water from this source is one of the best of all the sources in the Sierra de Guadarrama. Every time I stop here I empty whatever water I bring with me to refill with the fresh mountain water that comes out of the spout.

Pine of the Chain

Highlight • Natural Monument

Ricardo Urgoitiz, director of the newspaper 'El Sol', had the habit of walking through the pine forest towards the Navalmedio stream and the Cortes meadow. Also rest in the shade of a leafy pine tree located on the side of the road. It was precisely there that they brought him the bad news of his father's death. Shocked, Urgoitiz wanted to pay tribute to the memory of his father, coming up with the idea of cinching the base of the plant giant where he received that blow with a chain with the inscription: "To his dear memory, 1840-1924." Before, he had to buy the tree from a logger who had it marked to be turned into planks.
Nearly two hundred years old and chained to such a history, the Pino de la Cadena is an institution in the Sierra del Guadarrama. So much so that the forestry agents of the Community of Madrid every so often reach down to its feet to add a link to the chain and thereby prevent the iron from ending up strangling the tree.

Pine woods in Navacerrada

Highlight • Forest

The surroundings of the town of Navacerrada are covered by an immense pine forest. Formerly, on the Madrid slope of the Sierra de Guadarrama, logging was allowed. Throughout this area native pine species coexist with others planted for subsequent felling.
