Carding Mill Valley Tea Room and Visitor Centre

Highlight • Cafe

Much of the Carding Valley and Long Mynd area is owned and managed by the National Trust. As a result, not only are the paths well maintained but there's a lovely little cafe to get some refreshments. Hot and cold drinks, light snacks and cakes are all available here.

The car park here is open 9am-6pm daily.

Ridge Path in Shropshire Hills

Highlight • Viewpoint

A nice shallow climb along a ridge that can be vary windy due to the layout of the surrounding landscape, not much of a challenge but great to get new starters out in the rockier terrain and more exposed early on in their hill walking careers.

Ridge Path to Long Mynd

Highlight • Viewpoint

As the name states, this is the sketchy ridge path, the one thats not so sketchy unless its blowing a gale, and chucking it down with rain.. a much quieter and more exposed route up to the Long Mynd. This is by no means a scramble, but a much more exciting route up than the usual path.

Carding Mill Valley

Highlight • Gorge

Carding Mill Valley is a stunning valley that runs north-west out of the charming village of Church Stretton. It is the gateway to a plethora of gentle walks, hikes, and bike rides that are available in the Long Mynd area. The Ashbrooke River runs through the centre of this stunning valley, and located in its upper reaches is Lightspout Waterfall. The valley is bordered by the steep but moderate hills of Bodbury Hill and Haddon Hill to the north and Burway Hill and Cow Ridge to the south. There is a National Trust car park, information centre, and cafe at the start of the valley, but get there early, especially on summer weekends and bank holidays, as this is a very popular area.
