Afon Bachawy old railway bridge. Route 8 crosses the Bachawy just as it emerges from a wooded gorge to join the River Wye. The road is built on the route of the Cambrian Mid-Wales Railway which closed on 31st December 1962.

Boughrood Bridge

Highlight • Bridge

Constructed between 1838 and 1842 by the Maesllwych Estate, Boughrood Bridge was a toll bridge established to enhance the transportation of coal, coke, and lime from Radnorshire to Brecon. It replaced the previous ford and ferry. Toll collection ceased in 1934.

Small selection of cakes, cold drinks and a coffee machine. Some lovely art as well
Very useful as pubs on route had been closed

Co-op, Builth Wells

Highlight • Settlement

The small town in Wales is situated near the river Wye and invites you for a short break. There are some restaurants and if you don’t want to spend too much time, I recommend a stop at the Coop (the supermarket is integrated into a gas station, but has everything you need) followed by a break in the beautiful park, which you can hardly miss, because the cycle path leads right through it.
