Unit Number One

Highlight • Rest Area

Industrial unit come pub. Serving drinks from the local Hop Fuzz Brewery as well as some wines, ciders, bottled lagers and soft drinks.

Food is available but is run separately from the pub on a pop up basis, worth checking the Facebook page for who is in the kitchen and when.

Cash and card accepted, there is a toilet inside and parking is to the rear of the unit, plus plenty of room for bikes which can be seen from the outdoor seating.

Can get busy, seating can be hard to find but the bank of the Military Canal next to Unit 1 provides a nice alternative.

Dymchurch Sea Wall

Highlight • Cycleway

You can ride all that way along the sea and when you do it during high tide, you cycle 1 meter next to waves. Beautiful!

The Star Inn

Highlight • Pub

Fabulous country pub on a great ride. Also look for the Milk hut at Honeychild Farm (500 meters further along the road) which sells raw milk and other dairy products.

St Mary in the Marsh Church

Highlight • Historical Site

One of the most picturesque churches on the Marsh, St Mary the Virgin was built in the mid 12th century with a small chancel, nave and tower. As with so many Marsh churches, the aisles were added in the 13th century to accommodate an increasing number of guild and chantry altars. Outside, in the south wall of the chancel, a priest’s door remains with a medieval scratch dial carved on the right hand door jamb. In the churchyard, simple wooden posts and a rail mark the grave of E. Nesbit, author of The Railway Children and other children’s books.

The Kings Head

Highlight • Pub

Good food at this pub and if you ask nicely, you can put your bikes in the garden area at the rear. Although the staff were very friendly, the landlord himself is less so, particularly to cyclists - he seems to care more about his Mercedes than visitors on bikes.

Known to be occasionally visited by Morris dancers.
