Usk Bridge

Highlight • Monument

The old red sandstone bridge was built between 1746 and 1747. It has five arches and was widened in 1836-7, although it might not feel like it if traffic is busy! If you opt for the footpath, please dismount.

The Tumble Climb from Govilon

Highlight (Segment) • Climb

Nice long climb with a few steep sections. At the top it opens up to stunning views and a fantastic descent.

A word of warning though don't start out too hard as it's longer and steeper than it looks. However perfectly doable for most cyclists and worth it for the satisfaction and views at the top.

Keeper's Pond is a beautiful little pond near the summit of the Blorenge mountain. There is an information sign and a conveniant parking place next to it, where you can park your bike (or car) and have a little stroll around.

Smooth path, great views down the valley and only a few walkers on a bright Sunday morning.

An amazing view point and almost alpine descent. Ride over the top of the moors from the mining valleys and see the amazing green of the Brecon Beacons below. You can see the lakes and hills stretching out in front of you and then drop down into the landscape at breakneck speed! Good road surface and some switchbacks make for a fun time descending. You can climb up it of course but remember to look behind you to catch the view.

Llangynidr Road Climb (B4560 Switchbacks)

Highlight (Segment) • Viewpoint

The B4560 climb or descent through the switchbacks is a great road to ride in either direction. The high point is 518 m, and you start from either Llangynidr at 127 m in the north. Or Garnlydan at about 380 m in the south.

Crickhowell bridge is a pretty crossing point of the River Usk.

Crickhowell itself is a small market town with the remains of a motte and bailey castle built by the Normans.

March 4, 2022,The Tumble climb. (Blaenavon and Llangynidr switchbacks)
Fabulous landscape to cycle through. From the climb up the Blorenge (The Tumble) through the exposed high ground North of Brynmawr to the stunning descent towards Llangynidr. A beautiful place.
A little bit of unforecast rain around Blaenavon was challenging but didn't compromise my ride.
(How those Strava boys manage to climb The Tumble at 20km/h is mind boggling. Fair …
A challenging climb up the Blorenge (Tumble) with the reward of gorgeous views from the top.
