Still cold but lovely track in the early morning spring sunshine! Used Dewley underpass but, OS map indicates a potential.

Lower Dene Bridges and Pathway

Highlight (Segment) • Bridge

It's probably more fun to do this section heading downhill.

There are several passages with some steps and three or four bridges along the way.

Take care after it's been wet - it can get really muddy here!

George Stephenson's Birthplace

Highlight • Monument

George Stephenson's birthplace is a simple stone worker's cottage on the north bank of the River Tyne in Wylam, built circa 1760 to house mining families, and where the future railway pioneer was born in 1781. A Grade II* listed building owned by the National Trust, it is now a historic house museum with original furnishings and displays about Stephenson's childhood and early locomotives, and is opened to visitors by costume guides who wish to experience the living conditions of a Georgian mining family.

Nice section of track running adjacent to Ryton Golf Course. Good compact surface, up and down slightly but fun and good views

Gateshead Millennium Bridge

Highlight • Viewpoint

Opened in 2001 to commemorate the new millennium, Gateshead Millennium Bridge is one of the iconic bridges spanning the River Tyne in Newcastle. The bridge is open for cyclists and pedestrians so be careful when it's busy. It's a lovely place to enjoy the sunset over the city, with the colours reflecting on the river.

Reivers Trail 10

Highlight • Cycleway

This section is known as the Reivers Trail 10. I think this has been an old railway line, so the surfaces are just about flat, quite fast flowing, but they can hold puddles of murky water through rainy days. It is easy enough to ride past the puddles and pick a decent ride line though

Had a ride out to Wylam to fix a puncture on my granddaughters bike as my son is useless. I went through Walbottle dene, never been through before and it was a really nice ride. Came back along the south side of the Tyne, I've lots of video footage it's a shame I can't share it here.
