Kirk Yetholm marks the northern end of the Pennine Way. Well done if you have hiked the entire 267-mile (429 km) trail from Edale, in the Peak District.

The picturesque settlement of Yetholm straddles Bowmont Water. Composed of two small villages, Town Yetholm and Kirk Yetholm, it is famous for being home to the kings and queens of the Scottish gypsies from the 16th century. The former ‘Gypsy Palace’ is off Kirk Yetholm Green. Within Yetholm, you find accommodation, places for food and drink and a village shop, making it a good place for a pit-stop or an overnight stay.
