Horse and Jockey

Highlight • Pub

A beautifully presented brick built, multi-room Victorian pub on the south side of town. The tenancy its lovingly run by Paul and Paula Johnson. A proper pub with real fires, small unobtrusive TVs and a classic soundtrack from the 60's, 70's & the 80's. There isn't a pool table nor slot machines.. 4 beer wickets serving Unicorn and a rotation Brakspear Bitter, Marstons EPA and Lancaster Bomber then various guests Good value, freshly cooked food served lunchtime, evenings and weekends

Redesmere Lake

Highlight (Segment) • Viewpoint

Nice climb from Redesmere along quiet lane to "Ron's Railings". The climb is rewarded by great views across to Jodrell Bank and the Cheshire Plain. Just be aware of other riders and cars coming down round a couple of tight narrow bends. Much better to go up than down this hill as there is a lot of gravel and sand if travelling fast. Continue on at the top to Henbury or Gawsworth, or take first right to Over Alderley via Birtles Lane.

Swiss Hill Cobbled Climb

Highlight • Climb

A real gem if you're into Belgian-style cobbles. It's a narrow climb that is under half a mile but super steep - especially at the start. Don't miss the turning from the main road and get a good run up into the climb. Further up you might be lucky enough to ride on a narrow strip of tarmac if there aren't too many parked cars.

Best to avoid in the wet as the cobbles get really slippery (just like they do on the continent).
