Désert de Platé

Highlight • Natural Monument

The Platé desert is a natural curiosity, a completely incredible place. Here you are in front of a limestone plateau of about 1980 hectares made up of lapiaz, these rocks with such a special appearance that have been carved out by meltwater and glaciers over the centuries. It is one of the largest lapiaz in Europe! As a bonus, you even have a very nice view of Mont Blanc. A must see !

July 10, 2022,Randonnée Les Grandes Platières
Made with my 10 year old son.
The descent via the Collonoy pass is done by passing through a snowfield which can be partly bypassed by the right on the way down.
Passage certainly little frequented having allowed us to see 2 ibexes!
