The gingko as the tree of the millennium and a primeval sequoia are also part of the stock, as are descendants of the Ivenacker oaks. The genetic material of other gnarled giant trees, which have now been designated natural monuments, is also being secured in the arboretum as part of the "Young Giants" campaign.
The arboretum is open all year round and admission is free. Guided tours are possible on request.
