Mother Church of the Most Holy Savior

Highlight • Religious Site

The Church of the Most Holy Savior or Mother Church or Cathedral is the main place of worship in the municipality of Partanna. Built starting from the 16th century it was seriously damaged by the 1968 Belice earthquake, subsequently rebuilt and reopened for worship towards the end of the 70s.
Since the end of the post-earthquake reconstruction, no more interventions have been carried out. Only in 2013 were started further conservative restoration works on the building which concerned in particular the roof, the central nave and the presbytery area. The works were completed in 2019.

Bevaio Nuovo

Highlight • Monument

The Nevaio Nuovo was built in 1898 at the behest of the mayor Nicolò Tortorici, as can be seen from the plaque on the facade. It is an imposing monument, in calcarenite ashlars, located at the entrance to the town. It is composed, in the centre, of a precious front and, on the front, of three cannoli which feed the drinking trough. Two are arranged on the sides; the third, central, is raised and set in the mouth of a protome which is located above a small fountain in relief. The front is surmounted by an arch enhanced by a large shell, typical Sicilian Baroque style.
