In the northeast of Italy, in the border triangle between Austria, Italy and Slovenia, you will find one of the most beautiful railway cycle paths in Italy: the new cycle path on the old "Pontebbana" railway line. With funds from the EU, a 47-kilometer cycle path was created on the disused railway line from Tarvisio to Resiutta, which leads along the Fella river (canal valley / Valcanale) through the mountains of Friuli-Venezia Giulia. Especially the section between Resiutta and Pietragliata is peppered with tunnels and bridges, the views of the river valley or the surrounding mountains are breathtaking. The route is very well developed and asphalted, even if a few shorter detours were necessary. 35 of the 50 kilometers are on the railway line. Only the bypass routes have some short uphill/downhill sections. The route is very well signposted, you can hardly get lost

One of the most scenic and underrated mountain passes in cycling I would say. Slovenias highest paved mountain pass. You have a lot of nice switchbacks (24) and the special thing about this ascent is, that the switchbacks are cobbled! It's not bad cobbled like Paris-Roubaix. It's very good rideable and just different to all the paved roads. Fantastic views the whole time! It's 11.5km from Kranjska Gora with 830m vertical meters uphill. Not to steep.
