Heineken - Brasserie de l'Espérance

The brewery was founded by Jean Hatt in Strasbourg in 1746. [2] In 1862 the brewery was relocated to Schiltigheim, the brewery was the first in Alsace to have a steam engine. In 1964 an output of over 600,000 hectoliters was achieved for the first time. [3] The brewery brewed under the name Brasserie de l’Espérance. Between 1972 and 1975, Heineken took over the majority of the company and entered the French market directly. [4] In 1980 the company was renamed Heineken France SA. The Fischer Brasserie, which Heineken bought in 1996, was also located in Schiltigheim. In 2009 production ceased there and some of it was relocated to the Brasserie de l’Espérance.
