Alkenkuhle Geological Monument

Highlight • Natural Monument

The Alkenkuhle is a hollow with considerable depth, which is sharply defined in the forest. It is a geological phenomenon that originated in the Ice Age when the glacier retreated and the Ankumer Heights raised. The Terra.vita Geopark has set up very good information boards there.

The Alkensage, which is also presented on site and invites you to shudder, is also more exciting. Also here for reading on the website of the municipality of Bersenbrück: bersenbrueck.de/staticsite/staticsite.php?menuid=2592&topmenu=2995

This half-timbered hiking hut was built by the Alfhausen Local History Society in 1989.
It is an inviting place to take a rest.

Meyer megalithic tomb

Highlight • Historical Site

So this is the grave of Ugluk Meyer (died 3333 BC), the forefather of the now huge Meyer clan ... or is it? There is also the possibility that a Mr. Meyer has made this grave archeologically accessible. This grave is not as spectacular as the others in the area, but according to a contemporary witness from 1902 it is said to have been the most magnificent grave far and wide. It has probably been partially removed, a bad habit that continued into the 1970s.

Rickelmann II Megalithic Tomb

Highlight • Historical Site

There was once a 14 meter long burial chamber here - the bearing stones and capstones have largely been preserved (even if some are slightly offset). You can even see the enclosure if you look closely. An exciting piece of the Neolithic!
