St. Bernhard Church, Niersbach

Highlight • Religious Site

The branch church is a simply plastered quarry stone building and was built in 1808.
The high altar and bell from 1686 come from the Himmerod monastery. The wooden high altar is in
Form of a large curve with a tabernacle worked.
The church underwent extensive interior and exterior renovations in 1963.
At that time, the artificial stone flooring was also laid and the paintings were painted over with predominantly white paint.
During the interior renovation in 1993, a large part of the still existing historical room setting came to light.
The exposed remains of the ornamental paintings were sufficient to repaint them.
The parish commissioned a restorer to restore the ceiling paintings.
In 1995 another renovation took place, the tower was renewed, covered with slate and the church was given a new coat of paint.
In 1996 a new electronic organ was purchased. In 2001 the steel bell was replaced by 2 new bronze bells. One was dedicated to St. Bernard.
It weighs 170 kg and sounds like "it". The other was consecrated to Our Lady. It weighs 100 kg and sounds like a "total". The baroque high altar and the associated ones
Figures were restored in 2003.

St. Hubertus Church Greverath

Highlight • Religious Site

In the first Tridentine visitation in 1569, St. Hubertus was given as patron of the Greverath chapel
in 1683 St. Wendelinus and today again St. Hubertus.
In 1569 the chapel had an altar, a leaden chalice, and two foundations, one for St. Hubert and one for St. Magaretha.
In the war years 1914-1918 the old bells had to be delivered. In 1920 two new bells were commissioned from the Mark company in Brockscheid.
The bells had the tones "F" and "G". The price was 53 marks per kilo.
These bells had to be delivered again for war purposes. Two new bells were purchased in 1965/66.
The bell was switched to electrical operation at the same time. In 1979 a new harmonium was purchased for 2500 marks.

Highlight • Historical Site

The municipality of Niersbach bought the house in 2010 and renovated it. The Niersbach-Greverath Foundation financed a significant part of the costs.
In 2015, a small museum was set up in the former village smithy with the help of the local history and tourist association "Hedelischgippscha Greverath".

It's a great place to take a break. There's a comfortable place to sit and a fountain. There's no sign saying you shouldn't drink the water, so it's probably fresh spring water. It tasted good and the water bottles we filled up there were well tolerated.

Kneipp Rest Area Greverath

Highlight • Rest Area

Relax on benches or sensory bench, pubs, feel good, here on the outskirts of Greverath. Or as the bank's inscription reads, "Have you staggered today?"
