"The Seven Sisters" is the most famous of the impressive waterfalls in Geiranger. A breathtaking sight from a fjord cruise or ferry ride on the Geirangerfjord.
"The Seven Sisters" are among the most photographed waterfalls in the Geirangerfjord. As the name suggests, a total of seven waterfalls plunge vertically into the fjord here at the abandoned Knivsflå farmstead.
On average, they have a free fall of 250 meters, and during periods of heavy water, they are an impressive spectacle. The amount of water depends on snowmelt and precipitation and also determines how clearly all seven waterfalls can be seen. The waterfalls are usually at their largest during the snowmelt season from May to July. They are best seen by taking a boat out onto the Geirangerfjord.
Legend has it that all of the "seven sisters" were unmarried. The waterfall on the other side of the fjord is called "The Suitor" after several failed attempts to woo the sisters.
