Highlight (Segment) • Structure

Mostly paved road that eventually links up with US 6 Trail. There are sections with broken asphalt or loose gravel on the pavement, so thicker tires are recommended.

Lookout Mountain Climb

Highlight (Segment) • Climb

Lookout Mountain is easily the most popular and scenic road within the Denver vicinity. The road is well paved and offers continuous views of mountains and the city. After you pass Windy Saddle Park, you break 7k feet of elevation and enter the evergreen trees. If it is a cold day, this is typically the coldest part of the climb and drops a few number of degrees. Cars are generally considerate going up the road, but cyclists also need to be considerate, so stay single file and be aware of your surroundings.

Et Voila French Bakery

Highlight • Cafe

New bakery at the top of Lookout just past Buffalo Bills. They opened Spring of 2025, just getting started and adding new pastries each time I stop by, the coffee is good too, hard to beat chocolate croissants stuffed with Nutella and a double shot of espresso!

Dinosaur Ridge

Highlight (Segment) • Natural Monument

Dinosaur Ridge is a great paved trail to bring the kids to. It's closed to cars (save for the dinosaur visitor tour shuttle bus) and has other trails you can wander off on after locking up the bikes. The entirety of the trail is wheel chair accessible with toilets and seating along the way.

On the ridge itself, you'll find fossils and educational plaques.

Dinosaur Tracksite

Highlight • Natural Monument

Pedaling along the Dakota Ridge service road, you’ll hit the famous Dinosaur Tracksite, where ancient footprints in Dakota sandstone are stained for visibility. Over 300 tracks left by iguanodonts and small theropods lie just off the path.
