Custom House (Lancaster Maritime Museum)

Highlight • Monument

Built in 1750, St George's Quay was a major part of Lancaster's success as a thriving trade port. It was second only to Liverpool in terms of overseas trade towards the end of the 18th century.

The grand Custom House and the many warehouses are a poignant reminder of this golden era. The Custom House, built in 1764, is now home to the Maritime Museum — certainly worth a look if you have enough time.

Millennium Bridge, Lancaster

Highlight • Bridge

Cross into Lancaster here. It’s signposted right through to the train station and to Lancaster Castle- a short walk beyond the station. Lock your bike up at the station and go and have a look at the castle. Lovely cafe in castle too.
